LIVE REVIEW: BLACKPINK Bring Incredible Production To Amsterdam’s AFAS Live

We at Strife Mag are always looking for new music to explore, and recently we have taken a liking to the entire world surrounding the latest phenom k-pop. One of the artists carrying the torch of k-pop is the immensely popular BLACKPINK.

BLACKPINK has a couple of very popular tracks, among which the latest release "Kill This Love" and the collaborative track "Kiss And Make up" with another superstar: Dua Lipa.

Surrounding the release of "Kill This Love", BLACKPINK returned to Europe to perform a string of massive (and quite expensive) shows all across the continent, and kicking off the tour, they performed in a packed AFAS LIVE. The majority of the attendees didn’t just reach into their wallets to get in the venue but also spared no expense on merch. An insane amount of BLACKPINK t-shirts were spotted in the audience and almost everyone had their famous BLACKPINK lightstick, which made for quite the stunning portrayal.

The k-pop quartet kicked off their performance 15 minutes too late, but it didn’t matter much, as the audience was having a blast dancing along to the music videos being shown on the screens prior to the beginning of the actual concert.

BLACKPINK kicked off their set with the popular "DDU-DU DDU-DU", which was quite the spectacle. The dance choreography during the performance was nothing short of incredible and the special effects that complimented the performance were not minimal. Fireworks, pyro, dancers, confetti and more, BLACKPINK gave it their all during the first track of the performance.

While this was quite the spectacular start, a part of me was scared it could only get "worse" from here. Little did I know, cause the quality of BLACKPINK’s show did not decrease at all during the long-lasting show. After the first couple of tracks, the women submerged from the stage to return with different outfits.

All four women had their time to shine during their very own solo, which once again showcased the usage of pyro, fireworks, and dancers as well as different props on the stage. Every single track on the setlist had something that made the performance around it quite special, and that made the entire endeavor quite the spectacular one.

As someone who has never been to a k-pop show prior to this one and never really understood the rage, I have to admit that I left the performance feeling overwhelmed by the show that was just witnessed. The entire crowd went completely crazy throughout the entire concert, and BLACKPINK’s performance felt authentic and genuine.

Check out a couple of the photos BLACKPINK’s photographer made during the performance to get a glimpse of what we witnessed this evening and let us know if you’re going to any of the BLACKPINK IN YOUR AREA shows this Spring/Summer.
