Since Netflix hasn’t officially announced the renewing of “The Umbrella Academy” yet, we are left to wonder what is going to happen to our super heroes.

David Castañeda, who plays Diego Hargreeves (Number Two) has sat down with The Hollywood Report to discuss what the future holds for Diego and what routes his story could take.

“Diego was very much a guy with a chip on his shoulder but was very oblivious of it because he had one way of thinking. And the relationship between every single sibling that Diego had to me was so special.

Diego doesn’t know what else to do. He’s a kid in a man’s body. Diego sees his siblings and they have these amazing powers and they’re not using them for the good, or at least what they got programmed to do by Reginald Hargreeves.

Diego doesn’t know anything different. It’s not so much of trying to help you because you need to be helped. It’s ‘I’m going to help you so you see me and give me validation.’”

He also talks about Diego’s future and where his story could possibly go:

“One of the best things about the show is how the characters arc, and it takes its time to see people grow out of the traumas that they have. I’d like to see where Diego goes. He’s able to cope with a lot more things, but now he lost his mom, he lost Patch. He could either go completely insane off of it or he might just be a kid.

Showrunner Steve Blackman wanted to ground the comic book even more. So for example, Klaus doesn’t levitate in the show, whereas in the comic book he does.
And there’s something about seeing someone who has actually no real supernatural powers and only being able to throw things with precision that kind of makes people be like, ‘Oh, I can see that, I can put that person in real life and I can see it play out as a human being’.

You have Luther who has super strength, and you have Allison who can change the reality… and the fact that he can’t even be the one on top in the show, the resentment towards the father plays out even more because he is obviously placed at number two because he doesn’t have the powers one would say are divine.”

Have you seen the show already and are you excited for a possible second season?
What do you think will happen to the characters? Let us know!
