Review: Good Dye Young’s Poser Paste

Ever since Good Dye Young sent me their vegan and cruelty-free Poser Paste line, I’ve been “DYE-ING” to try it out, but I never knew how to use it correctly.

Good Dye Young was created by Hayley Williams (lead vocalist of Paramore) and her longtime stylist and makeup artist, Brian O’Connor. They became best friends and created Good Dye Young with the vision to create a community around self-expression, color, and happiness about being who you are. That vision finally came true, with tons of people already loving the brand.

After some practice, seeing how Hayley Williams wore Poser Paste on stage with Paramore, and with some tutorials posted by Good Dye Young, I finally figured out the best way to use the product for my straight/thin half dark brown and half aqua hair.

So I used to shave the side of my hair a bit, yeah I felt cool (lol). It isn’t as short now, but it’s still shorter than the rest of the hair on my head.

I find it best to use Poser Paste on that part of my hair because on any other part of my hair, it tends to feel too dry/rough for my personal taste. Since it’s a paste, it’s pretty thick and dries down hard. You can comb it out for a less hardened look or soft look, but that doesn’t work for me personally.

I want a super vibrant look, and combing it a bit makes it a little less vibrant. Plus, I rather have it on the part of my hair that I don’t touch constantly throughout the day, so I don’t need to worry about ruining it.

After seeing Hayley rock Poser Paste on stage, I’m sure you’ll have no problems with it dripping or something if it’s hot out. Don’t quote me on that though, I never tried jumping around on stage for hours for thousands of people. (If only.)

Overall, the color payoff does a pretty decent job for color that isn’t permanent or semi-permanent. As I mentioned earlier, my hair is half a dark brown shade, which is also the part I’m putting the Poser Paste on. The yellow (Steal My Sunshine), orange (Riot) , pink (Ex-Girl), and blue (Blue Ruin) all go on it well.

If you like a slick back hairstyle, maybe this would work perfectly for the look you want . The possibilities are endless so I’m still always practicing with it.

I’ve seen people color their whole head with Poser Paste, but just haven’t had the guts to try it out. Plus, you’d need a decent amount of Poser Paste for that, depending on the length of your hair. I feel like it wouldn’t look too great on me with the hairstyle I’m going for anyways. But if you tried it and loved it, let me know what you think!

I hope Good Dye Young posts some more tutorials soon. I love seeing how others use Poser Paste. It always inspires me to try something new with my Poser Paste.
