Twenty One Pilots Further Discuss New Album & Closing The “Blurryface” Storyline

Twenty One Pilots are driving us crazy with the subjects they are touching on in recent interviews. Most recently, the band sat down with NME, in which they discussed closing the whole “blurryface” story that “Trench” is also a part of.

Tyler Joseph shared the following in the interview:
“There’s definitely an end-game. There’s a story. I think I was very specific that there’s a reason why the record ends with [the song] ‘Leave The City‘ and the song itself is a kind of cliff-hanger. I mean, the whole thing was it’s setting up for what’s next and it’d be silly to not at least resolve what we’ve already started.”

In recent chats as well, the band shared that they’re already writing new music for an upcoming record, while “Trench” was mostly written in Tyler Joseph’s basement. The band also shared that a new character will be introduced in new music, however Josh Dun shares that the new character doesn’t necessarily have a “crazy narrative” to the story.

Josh Dun shares:
“There will always probably be elements of us that peek out as well, and maybe that would even be a whole record in between the ones explaining the narrative — maybe, maybe not,”

“Trench” has only been released for a couple of months and the duo is already driving us insane with the promise of new narratives, characters and music. Where will the madness end?

Catch the band on the “Bandito Tour” through Europe, after which they’ll be playing shows all across the United States of America for the second time since the release of “Trench”.
