Another Spin-Off To 'The Conjuring' Is Coming And It's Different From The Rest
A year ago we already knew that he was working on The Nun, which came out this month, The Conjuring 3 and yet another spin-off, The Crooked Man. You know, that super scary demon from The Conjuring 2 that wasn't Valak.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, James Wan had the following to say about that spin-off:
"We think we have a really exciting story. What we want to do, with The Conjuring universe, is we want each of our little offshoots to have a very different flavor, right?
So, for example, Annabelle is the classic sort-of haunted doll subgenre. And with The Crooked Man, I would love to push it more down somewhat of that dark fairytale, and more whimsical, subgenre.
I love the idea that, within the Conjuring universe, each of our little movies all have their own flavor, so that way they don’t feel like they’re the same films."
Now, we have gotten more updates on the status of the film.
In an interview with Cinema Blend, producer Peter Safran said:
"We’re still working on the script for it. The bar is set very high for the movies that we want to make in The Conjuring Universe, and until we get to that place we’re not interested in putting one of these out there into the universe. I still think The Crooked Man could be a very interesting and different story.
One of the reasons we were excited to make The Nun is it looks and feels very different than the other films in the Conjuring Universe, in the sense that we take it out of the ordinary, Northeast United States, the look and feel of a regular home, and we transplanted to Romania in the 1950s, an abbey, all of that. We’re always looking to make sure that we don’t repeat ourselves.
The Crooked Man has a very different look and feel, or will have a very different look and feel, than the other films in the universe."
Well, we sure are excited!
Also, if you haven't heard, there is also an Annabelle 3 coming!
