ROCK AM RING - Bring Me The Horizon Set Main Stage Ablaze During Spectacular Performance
Rock Am Ring, one of Germany's biggest festivals was held this weekend and we are so happy to have been present. The festival welcomed the likes of The 1975, Bring Me The Horizon, IDKHOW, Against The Current and many, many more. Rock Am Ring is held at the Nurburgring, a Formula 1 race track.
The location, as well as the team behind the festival, is impeccable and it is safe to say this year was a great success. We have seen performances of the greatest rock and metal acts throughout the weekend and will share our findings as well as the photos we took from each band.
Saturday night we saw Bring Me The Horizon take the Volcano stage, which is the main stage at 20:40. After a delay of approximately 10 minutes, the Sheffield rockers finally took the stage for what turned out to be one of the best live shows we have ever seen.
The last few years we have seen Bring Me The Horizon shift drastically in sound, as well as in performance and especially in the live show area it has been for the better. BMTH shows have always been special, but this live show surrounding their new album 'amo' is nothing short of spectacular. Kicking off their almost headliner set with the first single off of 'amo' 'MANTRA'.
The band came on stage with a special 'MANTRA' themed wardrobe, where frontman Oliver Sykes had an entire red suit in style of the single. Aside from the wardrobe changes, Bring Me The Horizon brought everything on their current trek. The performance includes dancers, smoke guns, fire and a spectacular setting sun complimenting the show.
With a setlist consisting of tracks from the last three albums, there was something in there for everyone. 'Sempiternal' is home to a few of the heavier tracks such as 'House of Wolves' and 'Shadow Moses', during which Oliver Sykes held the flare from the music video. Of course, the new album was heavily in the rotation, with fan favorites like 'sugar honey ice tea', 'medicine', 'nihilist blues', 'mother tongue' and the heavier 'wonderful life.
Bring Me The Horizon who recently headlined their first festival in the UK are well on their way to headlining festivals in other countries as well, and they have proven to be more than worthy of it during this show, which took place right before the headliner on the mainstage. Check out the photos Eva van Kuik took in the gallery below and let us know if you are seeing Bring Me The Horizon live somewhere this year.
