At this point, we all know that Against The Current are working on their sophomore record, however a lot of people probably have a lot of questions about the album. Lucky for you, vocalist Chrissy Costanza took the time to answer some of those questions on the Rock Sound Podcast.

For example, arguably the most important question of all: WHEN will there be new music?

“It’s [the album release] going to be really early 2018 – If everything goes to plan, I shouldn’t even be saying this! I don’t think we’ve ever done anything on time… […]The hope is that we can get a song or two out before the end of the year, it all depends on where we are with the record because we want to do it right – I’m still a perfectionist even though I’m now aware of it! I’m still a little crazy on myself, so we want to make sure we don’t just push something out for the sake of pushing it out, we want to have it exactly right.”

Well, doesn’t that sound promising? She even painted a picture of what the album as a whole is going to sound like:

“I think the natural bridge would probably be ‘Wasteland’. “Not that the new record is shaping up to sound as dark-pop as that song, but I think that song was a very different style to anything else we’d ever done up to that point. It incorporated a lot of different subtle elements, so I don’t want people to think the album’s going to sound like ‘Wasteland’, but the bridge is all in the little subtleties of that song.”

As for other influences…

“Me and Dan [Gow, guitar] have been listening to a lot of Oasis recently. I’ve been loving that really organic rock band sound, because we kinda drifted away from that and are quite a bit more pop now, but those roots and influences are really important.”

If all of this isn’t good news, we don’t know what is!
