Justin Tranter, songwriter of Fall Out Boy's single 'Centuries' has confirmed the song is about trans pioneer Marsha P. Johnson.

He was a guest performer at Spirit Day, an annual event raising awareness of the bullying of the LGBTQ community, when he explained his inspiration for the track.

Before he performed a cover of the track, he said:
"I want every LGBTQ person to know that our ideas are mainstream. We have stories to tell and people will fucking listen.".

Marsha P. Johnson was the co-founder of transgender organization STAR (Street Transvestite Action Revolutionaries), focused on providing aid and assistance to transgender people, drag queens, gender-nonconforming people and homeless LGBT youth.
