Strife Exclusive: Katastro Single Premiere

katastro

The alternative music scene today is flooded with bands and acts that all too often overlap in ideas and sound, becoming lost in a sea of similarity.

Since 2007, Katastro have been paving their own path and creating their own unique identity. Their lack of confinement to any strict genre or set of musical rules has brought in a plethora of fans and a multitude of artists who respect them.

Following the release of their album ‘Washed’ in 2018, the band quickly became a prevalent aspect of the scene, well-known for their experimental nature and individualism. Since this positive response, Katastro have been working tirelessly in the depths of their studio, producing their fourth full-length album to date.

The new album, ‘Tropical Heartbreak’ is set to be released on the 18th of October- but that hasn’t stopped them from giving fans a taste of what’s to come in the form of singles such as ‘Antisocial’.

If you have been following and enjoying the singles so far, we have some amazing news for you! Katastro has shared their next single exclusively with us, Strife Magazine! That’s right, you get to hear it here first!

The new single, ‘Pine’, is a versatile, unique and emotive track, sure to exude the same depth and connection most Katastro songs exhibit.

We were fortunate enough to share a few words with bassist, Ryan Weddle- someone who’s words truly encapsulate the nature of this track;

“Sometimes you find yourself bending backwards for everyone around you and there can be a moment where you stop and notice the position you’ve let yourself get into. Pine is a song just about that. How did things get here and how did I not see this all along. It can be easy to justify small actions and not fully grasp the bigger picture of what’s to come."

Alongside this in-depth look into the track, Weddle also shared the true meaning of the name; a meaning much deeper than first anticipated,

“"Pine
/pīn/
verb:
suffer a mental and physical decline, especially because of a broken heart.”
