Hi, I'm Samanthia
If I had had someone to support me when I was experiencing chronic anxiety over 15 years ago, I would have recovered a lot quicker. My chronic anxiety led to panic attacks, which led to me being hospitalised. All the stress & over stimulation of my sympathetic nervous system came out in my body and I developed a condition called Myoclonus - muscle spasm in the most basic term. Over time what I began to understand that my illness was psychosomatic.
To heal myself I read numerous books about the relationship between the mind & body, completed Cognitive Behavioural Therapy & journaling exercises as well as affirmations and mantras. I began to manage my anxiety & I learnt to achieve one of the most precious things to have as a human being - peace of mind. The last time I had a panic attack was in 2001. But it took me 5 years before I was well enough to return to paid employment.
I have developed my coaching skills through my own personal experience as well as 14 years in paid employment as a Family Support Worker supporting parents, young people and children who have often been in crisis at the time of meeting me.
This experience has been invaluable in helping me to understand that no matter your gender, age, race, religion, sexuality, nationality, or income we will all experience difficulties in life that impacts you mentally. Mental health is as important as physical health, and so it feels right for me to try and share what I have learnt to help others to begin their journey of overcoming their anxiety and revealing their own inner strength.
